"People, Planet & Plate" is how Darden describes our commitment to: provide our guests with nutritious, high-quality and responsibly sourced food; protect the natural environment; support and develop our employees; and give back to our communities.  It's our definition of corporate citizenship.

Citizenship at Darden

Today, companies like ours are expected to demonstrate that they are not only operating responsibly within their own business, but also actively working to help find solutions to a range of impacts and issues across their value chains. For a restaurant company like Darden, that means expanding our longtime focus on minimizing the environmental impacts of our physical footprint – the energy and water used and waste generated by our restaurants – to include the environmental, social, and human health impacts of food production and consumption.

Addressing this broader set of issues is inherently complex, and it requires new models of partnership and new ways of thinking. We are in the early stages of this journey, but we know it’s one that will be critical to our long-term success. The increased expectations of our guests, employees and other stakeholders will continue – and will grow.

Our guests want delicious, nutritious, and responsibly sourced food. Our employees want to work for a company they believe in. And Darden wants to continue to have some of the most successful and well-known brands in the restaurant industry. That’s why, even as we navigate through ever-changing and sometimes challenging business conditions, citizenship remains a key part of our company’s strategy for the future.
